To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the most devastating land war in history, Mark Albertson will speak on the titanic clash between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in which millions died and many of the greatest battles of World War II took place.
Mr. Albertson is a historical research editor at Army Aviation magazine and is the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America. Mark is a long time member of the United States Naval Institute. He has authored several books and is currently at work on another, Sky Soldiers: The Saga Of Army Aviation.
Mark teaches as an adjunct in the Extended Studies Program at the Norwalk Community College. He has published numerous articles on issues of history and current events. For the Lifetime Learners Institute of Norwalk Community College, he teaches six courses. He also lectures throughout the state on a wide variety of historic topics.
At the Society , a small exhibit on WWII is on display and it may be viewed at the time of the lecture. Three booklets in the exhibit published by the Historical Society on the men and women from New Canaan who served in the War are items often requested for reference.
This is a return visit by Mr. Albertson, who is a well-known lecturer in New Canaan.
The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the talk.
