Tours
A free tour of the Hanford-Silliman House, our 1764 Historic House Museum, if offered every Wednesday at 4 pm. This one hour exploration of the hearth, the craft room, the Tavern, the Parlor, the Doll Collection, and the bedrooms offers a glimpse into life in Colonial New Canaan. No reservations are necessary.
Educational & School Events
The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society offers guided tours to schools and groups. These tours can be custom-tailored to your curricula or interests, and can focus on early medicine, life in Colonial New Canaan, wool and linen weaving, the life and work of John Rogers, education in a one-room schoolhouse, and so much more. We can also include activities such as butter and lemonade making.
Please contact Nancy Geary at ngeary@nchistory.org to discuss and/or make arrangements.
Volunteers
The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society relies on its volunteers. We need docents, researchers, event helpers, clothing and textile assistance, greeters, and so much more, and are happy to work with you to find something that suits your interest.
Please contact Nancy Geary at ngeary@nchistory.org to find out how you can get involved.
