New Canaan resident and art collector Tom Davies draws from his personal collection to assemble 62 paintings highlighting oceans, rivers, lakes and streams of the Northeast. Through these paintings, he explores society’s fascination with the drama, danger, beauty and power of water, the crucial role it has played in the development of cities, transportation and trade, and the myriad forms it can take. Included in the exhibition are Silvermine Art Guild members Addison T. Millar (“Fishing the Little Silvermine”) and D. Putnam Brinley (“Gloucester Harbor Colors.”)

Tom Davies is a graduate of Dartmouth College and earned an M.B.A. from Columbia University. He had a 34-year career with Colgate-Palmolive. He has written numerous articles for art magazines and published Collecting Stories, a book of his extensive collection of American paintings.

This is his third exhibition at the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society. The exhibition runs through December 14, 2019.
