Please contact us with any questions you may have. You can make an appointment for a private tour, schedule a meeting to discuss volunteer opportunities or ways to engage, or plan a group event.

    TOURS

    Tours of the campus, including the Hanford-Silliman House, our 1764 Historic House Museum and New Canaan's first licensed Tavern, are offered by appointment. A personal docent will help visitors explore the hearth, the craft room, the Tavern, the Parlor, the Doll Collection, and the bedrooms, offering a glimpse into life in Colonial New Canaan. Other highlights include The Cody Pharmacy, Hanford-Silliman House, The Special Collections Museum, John Rogers Studio and the Rock School.

    EDUCATIONAL & SCHOOL EVENTS

    The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society offers guided tours to schools and groups. These tours can be custom-tailored to your curricula or interests, and can focus on early medicine, life in Colonial New Canaan, wool and linen weaving, the life and work of John Rogers, education in a one-room schoolhouse, and so much more.     VOLUNTEERS

    The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society relies on its volunteers. We need docents, researchers, event helpers, clothing and textile assistance, greeters, and so much more, and are happy to work with you to find something that suits your interest.     Getting Here

    The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society is located at 13 Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan. It is walking distance from the New Canaan Train Station, which is serviced by Metro-North.

    Accessibility

    The Town House is wheelchair accessible with an elevator that connects all three floors. Please contact the office if you are interested in visiting the historic houses and need accommodations.

    Admission

    Campus Tours available by appointment and 4th Saturday of the month at 11am and take about an hour. Admission is free to members.

    The cost for visitors:
    Adults (21+): $10.00
    Children are $5
    Children under 2: Free

    $10 for Library usage

    Additional charges for Library assistance and scans.

    The Museum is closed
    July 31 - August 8
    for summer vacation.
    It will reopen August 9.
