The Silvermine Art Colony 1908 – 1922

Paintings, Pastels and Sculpture by Silvermine Art Colony Members

This exhibition of fifty-eight works by the art colony members is drawn from museums and private collections. Sculptures by Solon Borglum, a founder of the colony, and paintings, pastels, drawings and prints by 22 additional members explore the exceptional diversity of style and technique they retained. Curated by Susan Gunn Bromley and Ed Vollmer, the NCM&HS exhibit is the most in-depth exhibition produced on The Silvermine Art Colony, one of Connecticut’s three principal art colonies. The exhibition runs through April 29.

We are excited to announce that construction on the Jim and Dede Bartlett Center for New Canaan History is underway! Events will occur as scheduled, but because of the logistical challenges in the main building, the portrait exhibition is available by appointment only. Please contact ngeary@nchistory.org.

WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR RESEARCH UNTIL June 4th.
