Silvermine Art Colony
Paintings and Sculpture
Paper and Canvas
The two exhibitions include over 120 works of art drawn from museums and private collections. Sculptures by Solon Borglum, a founder of the colony, and paintings, pastels, drawings and prints by 22 additional members explore the exceptional diversity of style and technique they retained. Curated by Susan Gunn Bromley and Ed Vollmer, the NCM&HS exhibit is the most in-depth exhibition produced on the colony. The Silvermine colony is one of Connecticut’s three principal art colonies. The “Sculpture and Painting” exhibit runs through April 29. The “On Paper and Canvas” exhibit runs through February 4.
